Swine flu is not an ancient disease.
Ayurveda is an ancient system of healing. It is an integral part of Indian style of living, of those who continue the old traditions.
Ayurveda does not, therefore, make a direct reference to the disease "Swine Flu".
Swine Flu disease can be classified as a "Svaasa vyadhi" (literally means: respiratory disease). Respiratory diseases, according to Ayurveda may result from midhyaahaara vihaaras (faulty nutritional habits and movements). Midhyaahaaram can include 'kalushitaahaaram' (polluted food). Viharas (movements) can include sexual habits such as gay sex - lesbianism - oral sex, sleeping habits (staying awake deep into night) and working habits (stress).
The modern system of treatment (hospitalisation) seems to be the right thing for Swine Flu. This is not the time for experimentation using Ayurveda. Patients in hopeless condition after trying the modern medicine, may try Ayurveda, by consulting qualified Ayurvedic physicians and hospitals.
IMPORTANT: Better to avoid medicines suffixed "rasam", "vati" etc., as they may contain mercury and sulphur.
